Packaging

Much of the brand’s packaging appears to be made of recyclable plastic (PET or HDPE) and are designed with reusability in mind. The brand offers refill options for its liquid soap, which significantly reduces single-use plastic waste and reflects a commitment to circularity

Other solid products, such as shampoo bars, are packaged minimally. They’re wrapped in simple recyclable paper and avoid plastic altogether. Atelier Beautanique opts for sustainable materials for their candles, which typically come in reusable glass jars or metal tins.

Ingredient Sustainability

The brand’s formulations are composed of biodegradable, and non-petroleum derived ingredients. There is no indication of petrochemicals, palm oil, or persistent synthetic compounds in their ingredient lists. Most of their products (liquid soaps and bar soaps) are balanced to include ingredients such as locally sourced oils, including olive oil and castor oil. Their Sôp sulfate-free shampoo uses plant-derived surfactants like decyl glucoside and sodium cocoyl isethionate (sourced from coconut and sugars) instead of harsh sulfates. These surfactants are readily biodegradable in the environment.

Energy Use & Footprints

Atelier Beautanique is a Lebanese-owned and made brand, with in-house R&D and manufacturing in Lebanon. Producing locally means that products sold within the region do not carry the large transportation footprint that imported goods would. By sourcing many raw materials from Lebanese farmers and crafting products domestically, the brand shortens the supply chain and reduces emissions associated with long-distance shipping of ingredients and finished goods. Still, we found no evidence of emissions tracking or reduction strategies.

Waste Management

Atelier Beautanique exhibits a proactive stance on waste reduction. By offering refills, designing products that leave no lasting waste, and avoiding unnecessary packaging, the brand significantly cuts down on both pre-consumer and post-consumer waste.

 Business Model

Instead of banking on seasonal trends or trends in general, the brand offers a core range of timeless products ( skincare, basics like soap and lotion, and wellness items) that encourage customers to switch to healthier, eco-friendly alternatives and stick with them. Therefore, Atelier Beautanique’s business model leans towards sustainable growth and conscious consumerism. They emphasize quality over quantity, refills over single-use, and education over trends.

Fair Labor

Atelier Beautanique emphasizes ethical and local production by sourcing most of its raw materials directly from Lebanese farming families and keeping manufacturing in Lebanon. This model supports small agricultural producers and creates local jobs, with the added benefit of traceability and close oversight. The brand’s leadership team includes women in scientific and managerial roles, highlighting its commitment to gender empowerment. While these practices demonstrate a strong ethos of fairness, the company has not yet published a formal supplier code of conduct or obtained external labor certifications, leaving room to strengthen transparency and verification of fair labor standards.

Animal Welfare

The brand is firmly committed to protecting animals, with all products made vegan and cruelty-free. It avoids common animal-derived cosmetic ingredients such as beeswax, honey, lanolin, or carmine, and ensures no testing on animals is carried out at any stage of production. Instead, formulations rely entirely on plant-based oils, waxes, and actives, paired with in-house testing on human volunteers. By staying away from palm oil, Atelier Beautanique also indirectly supports animal habitats under threat from deforestation. Although the brand has not yet obtained third-party cruelty-free certifications, its full ingredient transparency and consistent messaging align with the highest standards of animal welfare.

Community Engagement

By sourcing locally, Atelier Beautanique invests directly in Lebanese communities, sustaining small farmers and artisans during challenging economic times. The brand also participates in local exhibitions and development initiatives, such as UNDP-supported SME programs, which further anchor it in community-building efforts. Beyond economic support, it invests in consumer education through its blog and social media, raising awareness about sustainable beauty practices.
