Packaging

Conscious Skincare's entrie range is packaged in either glass or aluminum (both forever recyclables). They offer a refill program to cut down on recurrent packaging waste, but refill sizes are packaged in plastic, though they are 100% PCR plastic, BPA-free, and recyclable. They also offer the option to order without plastic pumps, which is an easy way to cut down on unnecessary single-use waste.

Shipping packaging are 100% recycled and recyclable cardboard. All packaing tapes and labels are 100% biodegradable. The brand also claims they intend to move toward 100% biodegradable packaging in the future.

Material Sustainability

Conscious Skincare's forumulations are 100% mineral oil and palm oil free. Almost all natural ingredients are sourced from low-impact crops par some minor exceptions. Ingredients like Argan Oil, which can be unsustainable due to high demand, are certified organic and fair-trade.

The brand excludes most environmentally harmful preservatives, but there are some exceptions like phenoxyethanol, which is fossil fuel derived and persistent in water systems (we recommend potassium sorbate as a more sustainable alternative, which Conscious Skincare uses in many of their formulations). For certain coconut derived ingredients used by the brand, sustainability depends on farming practices, which aren't always clear.
