Highlights

Sustainability

score : 9.7/10

Packaging

Its primary packaging eschews single-use plastics in favor of upcycled and recycled materials. Each bedding product comes in a reusable drawstring pouch made from reclaimed CleanBamboo® fabric off-cuts. All paper-based components, from inserts and hangtags to shipping boxes, are made of 100% post-consumer recycled paper and certified by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC).

Material Sustainability

The brand’s flagship textile is its patented CleanBamboo® fabric – a bamboo lyocell made from organic, FSC-certified bamboo pulp. Bamboo is a fast-regenerating resource that grows without fertilizers or artificial irrigation (rain-fed), and it yields far more fiber per acre than cotton, reducing land use needs. Ettitude further ensures its bamboo sourcing is sustainable by using 100% FSC-certified and Ecocert organic bamboo, traceable to the farm level. Unlike conventional bamboo viscose (rayon) processes that rely on hazardous chemicals like carbon disulfide, Ettitude employs a closed-loop lyocell process with non-toxic, food-grade solvents. This modern method recycles 98–99% of the water and solvent, dramatically cutting down chemical waste and water usage compared to viscose production. Moreover, Ettitude avoids blending its textiles with synthetics, ensuring products remain biodegradable at end-of-life.

Energy Use and Footprint

The closed-loop production of CleanBamboo® is inherently energy-efficient, reusing solvents and requiring lower processing temperatures than synthetic fabrics or traditional viscose. The company measures its overall environmental footprint rigorously via third-party lifecycle assessments (in partnership with the firm BCOME) and publishes these metrics in an annual impact report. Recognizing that some emissions are unavoidable, Ettitude has achieved Climate Neutral certification, fully offsetting the carbon footprint of producing and shipping every product.

Waste Management

The company is adamant about avoiding virgin plastic in both products and packaging. For example, it opts for plant-based buttons and metal zippers on textiles in lieu of plastic hardware. Off-cuts from fabric production are creatively reused: larger scraps become the aforementioned dust bags for products, and even tiny fabric pieces serve as stuffing or padding in packaging, rather than being discarded. Ettitude also tackles post-consumer textile waste through its take-back program and secondhand resale platform. Customers can trade in their used Ettitude bedding and apparel, which the brand either resells as pre-loved items (via its Re:New store) or upcycles into new material.

Business Model

From a business model perspective, Ettitude operates with sustainability ingrained in its mission and strategy. The brand is a certified B Corporation, scoring an impressive 102, which signals that it meets high standards of social and environmental performance, accountability, and transparency.

Non-toxicity

score : 10.0/10

All in-house textile products are certified to OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 (Class I), the strictest level which deems them free of harmful substances even for babies’ sensitive skin. The CleanBamboo® lyocell fiber is produced with zero toxic or caustic chemicals. The solvent is a food-grade, biodegradable agent rather than the hazardous sodium hydroxide and carbon disulfide used in rayon manufacturing. For whitening, Ettitude uses hydrogen peroxide instead of chlorine bleach, which is gentler and breaks down into water and oxygen. Dyeing is done with low-impact, fiber-reactive dyes (AVITERA® SE) that are not only Oeko-Tex certified but also cut chemical and salt usage significantly, and all dyes comply with the Zero Discharge of Hazardous Chemicals (ZDHC) MRSL standards.

Social Responsibility

score : 10.0/10

The company maintains a fully traceable and ethical supply chain, primarily in China and Peru, and rigorously audits its manufacturing partners. It works with globally recognized third-party auditors – including amfori BSCI, WRAP, and SMETA – to verify that factories comply with standards for fair wages, reasonable working hours, and safe working conditions.

Ettitude is a 100% vegan brand and thus ranks very highly in animal welfare by default.

A notable commitment is its participation in 1% for the Planet, through which the company donates 1% of revenue to environmental organizations, effectively supporting broader conservation and climate efforts. Within its supply chain, Ettitude’s collaboration with local artisans in Peru to produce waffle weave towels and robes provides fair livelihood opportunities and helps preserve traditional weaving crafts.
