Packaging
All shipping and product packaging is plastic-free, recyclable, or compostable. The brand notes on product pages that orders are “packaged and shipped plastic-free” with packaging made from 100% post-consumer waste. For example, the toothpaste and mouthwash tablets now come in glass jars with steel lids and a recyclable seal, and refill pouches are 100% compostable. Many items use glass, metal, or paper packaging exclusively.
Ingredient Sustainability
Love of Earth Co.’s formulations heavily favor low-impact, plant-based ingredients, often with organic sourcing. When synthetic functional ingredients are needed, the brand opts for relatively benign, eco-friendly options. In the Mint Toothpaste Tablets, for instance, the ingredients include mineral and food-grade compounds like nano-hydroxyapatite (a non-toxic enamel-strengthener), calcium carbonate, xylitol, and plant-based thickeners, with no fluoride or harsh chemicals.
The Foaming Hand Soap tablets use mild, readily biodegradable surfactants (sodium lauroyl sarcosinate and sodium lauroyl glutamate) and a food-safe preservative (sodium benzoate), with no chlorine, ammonia, or other hazardous cleaners.
For non-formula products, Love of Earth chooses sustainable, long-lasting materials. The Safety Razor is made of medical-grade stainless steel, a material that is highly durable and infinitely recyclable.
Energy Use and Footprint
There is no evidence of a formal carbon footprint measurement, public emissions reporting, or carbon offset program on the brand’s site. Love of Earth does some intuitive good practices (minimizing air transport, relatively low-impact production scale) but does not report or offset its footprint.
Waste Management
Many of the in-house products are reusable alternatives to disposable items, directly mitigating waste on the consumer end. The brand offers refill options for several products to curb packaging waste. The Leave-In Conditioner is available in a compostable refill pouch so customers can reuse the original glass bottle.
Business Model
Love of Earth Co.’s business model is built around promoting sustainable consumption, yet it must balance that with selling products (including a subscription service). The brand explicitly focuses on quality and longevity of products rather than disposable convenience, curates a relatively limited selection of in-house products with enduring utility, and marketing tone is educational and mission-driven rather than purely sales-driven.
