details:

Tentree's sustainability initiatives are comprehensive and encompass reforestation, sustainable materials, supply chain transparency, circularity programs, and climate action.

Reforestation

Tentree plants ten trees for every item sold. As of 2023, the company has planted over 100 million trees across more than 14 countries, including Madagascar, Indonesia, and Senegal. These efforts contribute to carbon sequestration, habitat restoration, and the creation of employment opportunities in local communities.

Materials

Tentree prioritizes the use of eco-friendly materials in their products. In the past year, 99% of the fibers used were sustainable, including organic cotton, recycled polyester, hemp, and TENCEL™. They've introduced recycled spandex and regeneratively grown cotton, with nearly 30% of their cotton being Fairtrade Organic certified. Tentree aims to phase out the remaining 1% of conventional fibers to further improve their fiber mix.

Supply Chain

In 2023, Tentree made significant progress in mapping its supply chains across all stages of production. Approximately 90% of the fiber used (by weight) can be traced to the country of origin, with some traceable down to the region of origin. This level of transparency allows the company to ensure responsible sourcing and ethical manufacturing practices.

Circularity

To address the issue of textile waste, Tentree launched "Circularity by Tentree" in 2022, a recycling and resale program. In 2023, the program expanded to take back and recycle used clothing from any brand and enable peer-to-peer resale in Canada. Customers returned over 5,200 items, equivalent to around 795 kg of textiles diverted from landfills.

Climate Action

Since 2020, Tentree has measured and neutralized 100% of its Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions, verified through Climate Neutral Certification. They are continually working to reduce emissions in operations and have set a Net Zero target through the Science Based Target initiative, aiming for Net Zero emissions by 2033.
