Bamboo pulp production is currently centered in China, where bamboo grows abundantly and processing infrastructure already exists. Even with overseas transport, life cycle analyses show that bamboo toilet paper produces three times fewer carbon emissions than conventional tree-based options. Choosing bamboo also helps preserve the Boreal Forest — one of the planet’s most powerful carbon-capture systems — and avoids the devastation caused by carbon-intensive eucalyptus plantations in Brazil, where many major “American” brands actually source their pulp.

PlantPaper is also lab-tested for safety and purity. It is 100% free of bleach and formaldehyde, eliminating exposure to dioxins — toxic compounds formed when chlorine bleach meets organic materials. Beyond that, PlantPaper has been tested for 28 PFAS compounds, including the six most common types found in household paper products, with zero detections across the board.

Despite its premium quality and safer formulation, switching to PlantPaper remains accessible: it costs only about 20 cents more per roll compared to conventional brands, adding up to roughly $15 per year for the average user.
